Maureen Walczak and Tootsie have been Pet Partners since February, 2008. This summer the Team began volunteering at the Campbell and Boone County libraries in the summer READ programs. Their work has been so impressive that they were featured on the front page of the August 13 Kentucky Enquirer: "Dogs Are Good Listeners."

Maureen says that Tootsie has been a big hit with the kids since she is so gentile and calm with them. The kids love how big Tootsie is and give out lots of hugs and treats in return for her unlimited kisses, patience and attention while she is being read to.

If your Pet Partner Team is half totally-laid-back-do-whatever-you-want-just-give-me-all-the-attention-you-have and the other half would enjoy helping kids to learn and share the joy of reading, why not consider volunteering in our Group's READ program?
